The Ugandan festival has moved to new site and announced it’s line-up taking place from September 15th through 18th.
Nyege Nyege, returns for it’s first in-person event after three years on a new site at Itanda Falls. The festival states:
“Finally we are back, with so many fresh acts to present and a growing fan base in East Africa ready to unleash the Nyege Nyege, by pushing toward a more environmentally friendly festival and always more inclusivity, with the new site we feel it opens a new exciting chapter in our story”.
The change to the new location offers a range of extras for attendees including a private beach and hot showers while the whole space is five times the size of it’s previous location The Nile Discovery Beach.
Nyege Nyege will continue it’s programming focused on African artists with a special focus on hybrid sounds from the Diaspora including electronic festival superstars Kampire, MC Yallah, Otim Alpha, Phatstoki and DJ Travella.
France’s most notorious party collective, Maraboutage are also making the journey to perform with Clara and Low Jack for their Nyege debut, the Tanzanian phenomenon who has been hailed as one of the world’s most dangerous selectors.
To reduce its environmental impact, Nyege Nyege is partnering with Bamboo Uganda to offset its carbon emission by planting bamboo, alongside showcasing bamboo-based installations and stages.
A festival first this year is a long-term partnership with the African Center for Radical Mycology, exploring groundbreaking techniques in myco-fabrication and other new applications for mushrooms such as stage design and lighting. Using mushroom growing the partnership aims to provide the local community with new income opportunities.
