Six years deep into music production, it’s time Ghost in the Glass introduces his sound.

Who are you?

I’m Ghost in the Glass. I produce house music mainly but also tracks with hip hop and rnb influences.

Where are you from?

I was born in Lahore, Pakistan and moved to the US when I was four. I’ve lived mainly in Syracuse, Milwaukee, and Chicago.

What do you sound like?

My sound is house music to bump in your car or stereo. Music that will make your head bob as you go about your day or your hips shake on a dance floor.

Why should we follow what you’re doing?

I’m not going for a polished sound, but more rough-around-the-edges dance music that still echoes the dance music of the past.

Which of your tracks sums you up? Why?

Wide Awake – it’s a melancholy tune that takes you by surprise when the beat kicks in. It has a slow meditative beginning that becomes energetic. It’s a song about obsession and insomnia.

What have you got coming out in the near future?

I’m releasing new stuff on my SoundCloud every month. I release selectively on other platforms.

What or who is your biggest influence and why?

Daft Punk is my biggest influence. They showed me how disco can be modernized to create an electronic dance sound.

How did you get into DJing/ producing to begin with?

I played music in high school, then went back to it several years later. By that point, I had changed from being interested in rock to more house, hip-hop, and rnb sounds. I started producing on my laptop in 2017 and haven’t looked back since.

What are three things on your studio shopping list?

Monitor speakers, insulation, and a mic.

Who or what have you sacrificed for your art?

I sacrificed alcohol mainly to save my life, but as a byproduct, I became way more productive in making music as well. Quitting booze is the best decision I’ve ever made.

Quitting booze is the best decision I've ever made.

Where can we hear your music?

SoundCloud, Spotify, Tidal, Apple Music, YouTube and Deezer.

What one song would feature on the soundtrack to your life?

Cloudy by Daphni.

What motivates you?

I have an insatiable urge to create. I wrote poetry for a number of years and then switched to producing music. For me, it is an obsession to work on something creative whenever I can.

Tell us an interesting fact about yourself

Me and my siblings were all born on different continents.

Complete this sentence: At heart I’m just a…

Seeker, finding the poetic truths of life through my music.

What’s the best bit of advice you’ve received?

You have to be willing to look like an idiot if you ever want to learn anything

Where will you be in five years’ time?

Making music, maybe going back to writing. No matter where I go, where I am working etc, I will always need a creative outlet.
