ASADI live on the Maschine. A young producer from Ohio going by the alias ASADI demonstrates his extreme proficiency performing live on a Maschine sampler’s pads, playing a full track with lightning-fast speed and precision. Watch him in action above.

Shruthi synthesiser lives on. Maker of synth and Eurorack kits Laurentide Synthworks announce that a highly-loved but discontinued monosynth, Mutable Instruments‘ Shruthi, will be supplied back to the DIY community as a kit following discussions with its original creator about continuing the unit’s legacy. Discogs global record store database. The internet’s main vinyl marketplace, Discogs has begun a mission to “document every physical record shop on the planet” on a world map, encouraging worldwide contribution to the database via the new Vinyl Hub. “With your help, we can create an accurate listing of all record shops, useful to diggers and travelers everywhere.” Check it out here.

James Holden’s Group Humanizer. The electronic experimentalist has created a Max for Live patch based on the research of a Harvard scientist, which allows your musical parts to react to each other’s timing imperfections as live performers, creating a more natural and organic sounding groove that reacts to changes live. Juan Atkins explains missed shows. In an official press statement on behalf of Juan Atkins, it has been explained that the techno icon was unable to perform at three shows recently due to a total kidney failure caused by his diabetes. During a flight from Detroit to Frankfurt, Juan’s condition became so grave that he required emergency medical assistance immediately after the aircraft was landed due to his life-threatening condition. Williams and Thicke fined $7.5m for plagiarism. Following accusations that Pharrell Williams and Robin Thicke plagiarised elements of Marvin Gaye‘s 1977 hit ‘Got To Give It Up’ in their track ‘Blurred Lines’, a trial between the Gaye Estate and the two multiplatinum performers has resulted in a $7.5 million fine, as an LA jury decides that similarities between the two compositions were too significant to simply indicate “inspiration”.
