WHAT’S THE FIRST RECORD YOU EVER BOUGHT?
Stephan Bodzin – ‘Marathon Man’. This is one of those random things that happens with music. I actually bought it from an old friend of mine who was a techno DJ. I just loved it, so he had to sell it to me.
THE FIRST TIME YOU REMEMBER HEARING ELECTRONIC MUSIC?
I went for drink at a very small, local club in Pristina, Kosovo, where a friend of mine was working. It was only about 150 people. It was called the the Ak Bar and it must have been around 2004. The music struck a chord with me – I was totally intrigued. Even though it was just a local DJ, the whole atmosphere was really happy and I always felt at home there – it was my happy place!
YOUR FAVOURITE EVER RECORD?
Trentemøller – ‘Moan’. This is so hard. I have a few but my choice would have to be a very special record which grew on me a lot over the last couple of years. It never gets old and I can just listen to it over and over again. A truly inspirational artist and record.
THE RECORD YOU’RE PROUDEST OF?
‘Illusiones’. I think this really is the record that took it to the next level for me. It was on Noir’s label, and it got such a great reaction everywhere I played it that summer (and still does!).
THE FUTURE CLASSIC?
‘One Of Us (Dennis Ferrer Remix)’. What can I say? Dennis Ferrer remixing your record? Yes please. Moon Harbour reached out to Dennis, and he killed it!
The last track of the Night?
My favourite would be Oxia – ‘Domino’. Another all-time favourite of mine. It’s a bit of an obvious choice but it’s such a timeless classic that when you’ve got a great crowd, it just completes the night.
THE Soundtrack to a lazy sunday afternoon?
Caribou – ‘Can’t Do Without You’. This is just a slice of pure summer class!
The best record for a family party?
That would definitely be James Brown – ‘Sex Machine’. Ha!
