Who are you?
I’m Braxton, born in the south, brought up in the north and now I live in sunny Brighton.
What do you sound like?
I sound almost exactly like someone who sits around in his pyjamas making moody, banging house and techno and eating pizza all day long.
Why should we listen to you?
Because not many people know about me so you can say you listened to me when it was cool.
What have you released so far? What else have you got coming out in the near future?
I released a single on MTA Records towards the end of last year called ’21 Days’. I’ve also remixed for a number of acts, namely Tourist, Blonde, Grades and Rufus. I have a four-track EP coming out on MTA records in April titled Stronger. I’ve tried to explore a couple of different vibes with this EP – there’s one or two big clubby numbers in there, then also a couple of earlier mid-day radio friendly vibes. I’ve also got loads more set to go soon after this EP drops…
What song sums you up? Why?
Mark Murphy – ‘My Favorite Things’. Because Julie Andrews was bang on: you gotta stay positive even when you’re going through the shit. I listen to the Mark Murphy version to restore a modicum of cool – I can’t have folk seeing me playing the original.
What or who is your biggest influence and why?
Musically, most definitely Boards of Canada. I was really interested in electronic music from a young age and when I first heard Geogaddi I practically shit myself with excitement, I was so happy that ’this sound’ existed.
Also, I can’t deny the influence of my parents. Growing up, they were both knowledgeable and passionate about all different kinds of music. They noticed my interest in music and DJing and agreed to fork out a huge chunk of their earnings to get me a pair of belt-driven Sherwood decks when I was a kid. My mum also bought me my first record. It was a Dope Smugglaz 12-inch, so I spent a long time learning to beat match that into my dad’s old Smiths records. It sounded fucking terrible.

Hopefully not still sitting here at 4am browsing Reddit, listening to a bunch of meth addicts fight outside my house.
