The New Zealand-based purveyors of top quality samples, Goldbaby pay homage to the Casio MT40, a home keyboard used to create ‘Under Mi Sleng Teng’, which revolutionised dancehall music with its punchy digital drums and bass. SoundCloud and Sony Licensing Deal. The world’s largest record company, Sony Music Entertainment, has licensed SoundCloud, taking equity in the streaming platform as part of the deal. The move follows similar agreements with Warner Music Group in late 2014 and Universal Music Group earlier this year, making SoundCloud free to launch its subscription service. Find out more here.

SchneidersLaden presents Superbooth. Taking place from March 31st to April 2nd in Berlin, Superbooth is a new annual music and culture fair aimed at the electronic music community. With exhibitors from giants like Korg and Roland down to boutique modular synth manufacturers, the show is described as “a living come-together for manufacturers, dealers, musicians, tinkerers, new-comers and the scene”. HD Vinyl Coming Soon. Amid growing demand for vinyl, Austrian company Rebeat Digital have filed patents for a new process to create HD vinyl, which they claim will improve upon standard vinyl in many ways, including reduced manufacturing time and costs, 30% higher volume and running time, and also double the audio fidelity. Apple Music and Dubset Licensing Deal. Apple Music and Dubset have come to a licensing deal, allowing Apple Music to stream DJ mixes and remixes from Dubset‘s MixBANK platform, which is designed to facilitate the marketplace between DJs, rights holders and music services. More information here.

Free Vinyl Drum Rack from ModeAudio. ModeAudio have created a drum rack preset for Ableton Live users, featuring 32 turntable and vinyl samples spanning kicks, snares, hi-hats, claps, crackle, hiss and needle drops, along with a demonstration Ableton session template for using the rack. Find out more and download here
