Newly signed to Davide Squillace’s This And That label, Plugger is a sonic experimentalist with a penchant for sampling.
Who are you?
I am an experimental gentleman. I am an unstoppable sex machine. I am a gardener. I am a cook and… yes… I was about to forget. I’m another electronic musician.
What do you sound like?
I sound like the voice inside your head telling you to push harder because you can get more out of yourself, because reality is not what it seems, because objects in mirrors are closer than they appear, and mirrors in objects are always further away than they really are.
That’s how I sound, but with a touch of psychedelic 4/4 groove…
Why should we listen to you?
You should listen to me because I have something to say. You might like it or not but Plugger is a very unique and clear concept. Everyone doing things with care and love and attention deserves their own audience. There is so much noise pollution that most times people’s attention is mobbed by useless stuff: that is a pity.
Listen to me, I deserve it… and then if you don’t like it you can tell me to fuck of and I’ll be happy anyway… I’m a happy masochist!
What have you released so far? What else have you got coming out in the near future?
I released a double NON-album titled This Is Not A record. Coming up I have a brand new audiovisual live show made with the same technique of the PLUG: for every track I play live, there’s a superpsycho visual created, cutting and pasting original footage and animated LP covers of the band we are plugging. The result, I must say, it’s very… different from anything you see around!
What song sums you up? Why?
‘Come Together’ – The Beatles. Because if you think you’re a grooviebadassbootyshakinproducer and you don’t pay tribute to this tune, listen to it in a loud KPA and vanish in your shame. It was 1969, bitch, and in 46 years nothing cooler has been done.
What or who is your biggest influence and why?
John Lennon and John Holmes. They both screwed society, creating a revolution. The first one with his mind, the second with his dick. But the ideal was pretty much the same.
Where can we hear your music?
This is a very difficult question. Let’s put it the other way: where will you NOT hear my music?
You won’t hear it in a church, in an elevator, in a commercial radio, in a shitty club, in an average lousy disco and not even in your mother’s iPod (yes, she still has an iPod…) everywhere else you’re likely to hear some fragments of a Plug.
Where will you be in five years’ time?
In five years’ time I hope I will be above, behind, in front, besides and under you. Maybe I’ll make it in four and a half.
And if you don’t see me there, you’ll probably find me in Ibiza.
Tell us an interesting fact about yourself.
I’m really not an interesting person, but… I play cars. If you Google up SOUNDPRINT#1 you’ll find my ‘Sonata in C# Minor for Cello and a Yellow 1973 Fiat500’ (which is my car, by the way!). That, as a matter of fact, is interesting, not me!
Plugger and Davide Squillace’s Re_Cycle#1 EP is out on 23rd March on This and That. Find Plugger on Facebook, Twitter and SoundCloud.
