“I have been known to wear dark clothes and eat a lot of cereal.” Third Son introduces himself.
Who are you?
I am The Third Son. Well, just Third Son really.
What do you sound like?
I’ve always found this question hard to answer. A mix of techno and the darker side of tech-house, with influences of progressive, disco and minimal piano… to be brief.
Why should we listen to you?
I like to think I’m doing something new. I get bored easily so pushing things forward stylistically is what I’m most interested in at the moment.
What have you released so far? What else have you got coming out in the near future?
EPs and remixes on imprints like Stil Vor Talent, Noir Music and Sincopat. More to come on labels like Microcastle and my own label, Polymath. The aim for this year is to ready my own album also.
What song sums you up? Why?
Massive Attack – ‘Black Milk’. I have been known to wear dark clothes and eat a lot of cereal.
What or who is your biggest influence and why?
Amon Tobin. He’s the reason I started making electronic music.
Where can we hear your music?
On the internet of course. Type “Third Son music” into the Google machine. Some record stores stock my vinyl.
Where will you be in five years’ time?
Hopefully right where I am now, in my studio making music.
Tell us an interesting fact about yourself.
I have a masters degree in chemistry. Not sure why.
Third Son’s Genus EP is out now on Polymath. Find him on Facebook, Twitter and SoundCloud.
