The Freude am Tanzen and Musik Krause boss gives us a tour of his studio.
Wall Pictures
As I don’t have a proper view out of my windows I have a little collection of pictures on my wall, including a pic of Steve Martin ironing a cat (lower left side).
The handsome dude that looks like he is about to give his ransom demands is me.

Douglas Greed – My Studio
Here I am in my studio. In this pic I’m totally making music. As you can see I got goosebumps as the bass just dropped that second… Don’t let the missing lights that indicate the speakers are not switched on fool you!

Ableton Live
My main DAW is Ableton Live. I went through almost all of the DAWs. Started with Cubase, went through Fruity Loops and ended up using Live. Lately I tried to get into Logic but that didn’t really work out.

DSI Prophet 12
Last Christmas I bought myself a little gift: a Prophet 12. Unfortunately I’m so used to doing everything within my computer that I mostly use it as a MIDI controller. But for this picture you can see my beautiful hand pretending to make some awesome filter moves while I have the time of my life jamming in the studio.

Monitors: EVE Audio SC307 and Dynaudio BM5A
My friend just bought a wide-angle lens. My mom said it makes me look fat. But I think it’s alright and it helps you guys see the interior of the studio. On this pic you can have a look at my two monitor systems. I use EVE Audio SC307 as main speakers and Dynaudio BM5A as a backup (even though my dad thinks some Samsung speakers would do the job just as well).

RME Fireface & Beyerdynamic DT 880 Pro
I don’t know how my RME Fireface made it through all these years. It fell on the floor a couple of dozen times and had more coffee spilled on it than Starbucks is able to sell in a year. I use this little friend in my live show, featuring a singer and a percussionist, as well.
When it comes to the mixdown stage of my tracks I also use different kinds of headphones. Here you can see my Beyerdynamic DT 880 Pros. I also love to use my iPhone headphones and some really really crappy cheap headphones I once found on a train.

Record Player
One of my favorite items in my studio still is my record player. I lovingly call him Joachim Loud. He was given to me when I was 16 by my parents. Since then he was always there for me: he first time I tried to beat match, the first time I scratched, the first time my heart got broken by a beautiful girl. As I was kind of a nerd – and still am – he was my only friend in hard times and in good. Wherever I go I take him with me, which was kind of akward when I went on first dates.
