“Everything he touches is genius. But don’t tell him I said so!” The Norwegian prodigy talks us through his favourite tracks and reveals one of his production heroes.
What’s the first record you ever bought?
Are we doing CD or vinyl? On CD, Coolio – ‘I’ll C U When U Get There’. On vinyl, Lee Foss – ‘Turn Your Girl’ remixes, cause of the ‘Things Fall Apart’ remix from Seuil.
The first time you remember hearing electronic music?
I wasn’t that young. I started out with rock, blues, hip-hop and R&B, so the first time I properly got into it and listened to it… I choose to believe that the moment you’re asking me about was when I first consciously made a choice that this is something I like. I think I was 16, maybe. Røyksopp – ‘Eple’. Probably the first song I remember that was electronic and totally different to the other stuff I was listening to.
Your favourite ever record?
Oh, easy. Ceramik City Chronicles by Jarle Bernhoft. Especially the track ‘On Patience’.
The guaranteed floor-filler?
Vaal – ‘Cine (Mind Against Remix)’
