The last track of the night?

I love playing in exotic locations, with a Caribbean feel. In those occasions I can’t help but close with a track that has something of the magic of what I see as the perfect night. And the one I have always dreamt of is ‘Sweetest Taboo’ by Sade.

The best chillout record?

I have no doubts here. I’ve always been a big fan of Talvin Singh, and the remix of ‘Traveller’ by Kid Loco is a classic of the genre.

The record everyone loves but you hate?

‘Happy Birthday’ by Stevie Wonder. Even though his discography is incredible and he is a true genius, whenever I hear this sung or played at birthdays I ask myself who could have written what is to me such a horrible refrain!

The best record for a family party?

Without a doubt the best of Bob Marley will have everyone from three to 90 years old in agreement… pure happiness. ‘Could You Be Loved’.

The soundtrack to a lazy Sunday afternoon?

‘Easy’ by The Commodores would be too… easy! But going through the back catalogue, Roberta Flack‘s ‘Feel Like Makin’ Love’ is a good choice. Back to the present and I really like Vermont‘s album on Kompakt and think everyone should give it a listen.

The record you’re proudest of?

Of all the records in my collection of original vinyls, the one I’m proudest to possess is There It Is by James Brown. An incredible artist, he paved the way for black music and is responsible for a variety of genres – funk, hip hop, dance – and he’s the most sampled artist around. Even Elvis Presley would go to his concerts incognito to try and capture his secrets. Not even Michael Jackson could dance like that. James Brown was a real number one.

The future classic?

I think that Culoe de Song‘s ‘The Bright Forest’ will continue to be my favourite classic for some time. This is music that comes out of South Africa where everything began. It carries within it something magical, epic. The energy of a great country like South Africa.

Luca Bacchetti’s remix of Livio & Roby’s ‘Ananda’ is out now on VIVa MUSiC. Find him on Facebook and SoundCloud.
