“It sounds like I imagine it would feel to get out of a warm bath and be dried off by ten fair maidens.” Zombie Disco Squad picks his all-time favourites and tips a new Claude VonStroke track for future classic status.
What’s the first record you ever bought?
MJ – ‘Bad’. I bought it with my birthday money when I was six.
The first time you remember hearing electronic music?
I used to live opposite Kiss FM when it was still a pirate radio station in Brixton and it used to block out my mum listening to Radio 4 so I was hearing pretty good dance music from about the age of five. My mum wasn’t so impressed though.
Your favorite ever record?
There are sooooooo many to chose from. If I had to I’d probably pick ‘Your Love’ by Jamie Principle. It’s so tender and beautiful. It gives me shivers even though I must have heard it several hundred times at least.
The last track of the night?
Prince – ‘Controversy’. Who doesn’t like Prince? It mixes in at house tempo and brings smiles all round!
The best chillout record?
Washed Out – ‘Feel It All Around’. I first heard this on the excellent TV show Portlandia. It sounds like I imagine it would feel to get out of a warm bath and be dried off by ten fair maidens.
