AlphaTheta Corporation has expanded rekordbox’s capabilities with an integration that allows DJs to stream Apple Music’s vast catalogue, and includes Streaming Radar also.

The latest update for AlphaTheta users aims to provide greater creative freedom for DJs by offering seamless access to Apple Music’s extensive library of songs and playlists within rekordbox and selected DJ hardware systems.

The integration is supported on the OMNIS-DUO and XDJ-AZ all-in-one DJ systems, allowing users to directly connect to Apple Music via the internet and access their music library without requiring an additional computer. This includes everything from the latest club tracks to chart-topping hits, as well as nostalgic classics and personal playlists from Apple Music accounts.

New Features for rekordbox Users

The update to rekordbox (Mac/Windows, ver. 7.1.0) and rekordbox for iOS (ver. 4.4.0) allows for smoother, more intuitive DJing. StreamingDirectPlay enables users to load and play tracks directly from Apple Music on supported hardware, with automatic BPM and grid analysis for precise beatmatching. On-screen waveforms further aid in this process, ensuring smooth transitions and accurate track mixing.

One of the key features of the update is the inclusion of the Streaming Radar tool, which recommends tracks based on the DJ’s current selection. Additionally, the Collaboration Playlist function allows DJs to share playlists with friends, making it easier to curate sets together. Visual browsing tools, such as album artwork and artist images, make it quicker for users to find specific tracks or genres within Apple Music’s library.

Cloud Library Sync for Seamless Music Management

rekordbox users can also benefit from Cloud Library Sync, which ensures their music libraries stay up to date across devices via the cloud. DJs can import Apple Music tracks into their rekordbox for iOS app on their smartphones or tablets, set Hot Cues on the go, and have their changes sync automatically with their home PCs or supported hardware, such as the OMNIS-DUO and XDJ-AZ. This enables DJs to access their full music library across devices without missing a beat.

To use Cloud Library Sync, a subscription to one of rekordbox’s Cloud plans is required. However, a subscription to rekordbox’s Creative or Professional plans is currently unavailable due to a change in the service’s payment system. DJs can instead choose the Cloud Option or Professional plans for full access.

A New Source of Inspiration: The AlphaTheta DJ Mix Curator Page

In partnership with Apple Music, AlphaTheta has launched a new DJ Mix Curator page on the streaming platform. The page features mixes from DJs, along with unmixed playlists of the tracks used. DJs can explore these mixes for inspiration and recreate them on their own, offering a new avenue for creative exploration in live sets or personal practice sessions.

Streamlining DJing Across Platforms

With rekordbox now supporting Apple Music, DJs can access a wealth of music no matter where they are. Whether using a smartphone, tablet, or professional DJ system, the integration offers flexibility and enhanced performance features for any setting. DJs can enjoy the freedom to play from a diverse range of genres and sources, pushing the boundaries of their craft.

The updates for rekordbox for Mac/Windows (ver. 7.1.0) and rekordbox for iOS (ver. 4.4.0) are available for download now, with rekordbox for Android expected soon. The OMNIS-DUO and XDJ-AZ systems have also been updated with new firmware (ver. 1.21). These updates are available for download on AlphaTheta’s official website.
