Beatport.io, a culture-driven marketplace where artists and labels can share their music and art, has announced its first project.
Developed in collaboration with Define Creative and built on Aventus, a parachain within the Polkadot ecosystem, Beatport.io aims to impact the music industry landscape significantly.
The inaugural project on Beatport.io is a multipart art series called “NACHTS,” which focuses on Berlin’s techno scene. The series is led by photographer Mischa Fanghaenel, who brings a distinctive perspective from his experience as a Berghain bouncer.
The first limited drop of the NACHTS series is scheduled for release in August 2023 and includes an exclusive collaboration with DJ and producer Len Faki. This edition also features a bonus track from Len Faki’s latest album ‘Fusion,’ created exclusively for this release.
Additional editions are planned, showcasing collaborations with renowned musicians such as Ellen Allien, Âme, Ben Klock, Dixon, DVS1, Freddy K, Gerd Janson, Marcel Fengler, Norman Nodge, Patrick Mason, Roi Perez, Seth Troxler, Kobosil, and others, with regular releases.
The accompanying portrait exhibition, NACHTS, by Mischa Fanghaenel, will be showcased during the upcoming Berlin Art Week on September 14, 2023. Collectors will have the unique opportunity to utilize NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens) as access tickets to the exhibition.
The essence of ‘NACHTS’ lies in its portrayal of over 175 personalities, combined with exclusively produced music, forming the basis for immersive artworks generated through AI models. The portraits undergo transformations in sync with the music’s rhythm, resulting in captivating works of art.
Mischa Fanghaenel describes the vision behind the ‘NACHTS’ project, stating
“The inception of NACHTS emerged during the initial lockdown, driven by the desire to preserve and memorialize the vibrant culture that embodies Berlin’s nightlife. In capturing the diverse array of characters that define this community, I recognized the significance of spaces where individuals can come together and embrace their true selves. Through this project, I aim to share the beauty of life”.
