Somali Disco – Au Revoir, Mogadishu. From Cologne and Berlin, the ninth mix of Jakarta Records‘ Jakarta Radio series. “We came across this great mix by Caykh Recordings of the golden days of Somali music. Sounds from before the war, songs from before the beautiful city of Mogadishu became a battle ground for 2 decades. This mix of 70s and 80s Somali sound is a rich blend of traditional Somali folk music infused with Western funk, rock and reggae and a touch of Indian, Arabic and African flavors.” Stream above, track listing here.
Carl Craig In Session. The Detroit icon delivers an hour-long masterclass in warm house and futuristic techno, demonstrating why he’s stood at the helm of electronic music for so long. “His mixing is seamless, constantly working an ebb and flow that bumps, bangs and jacks across his inimitable time signatures with seemingly effortless abandon” – Mixmag.
