Discwoman Laurel Halo. Having recently released her critically acclaimed album Dust on Hyperdub and ahead of her string of New York shows, pioneering producer and DJ Laurel Halo‘s latest mix “is somewhere between club and listening, heavy on melody, style jumping & perc-happy”. Simo Cell Live at Freerotation. Simo Cell has been described by Ron Morelli of L.I.E.S. as “one of the only up and coming young DJs who actually gets it”. Recorded at the desk of Freerotation 2017 “with no edits”, his set showcases the Paris-based producer playing hypnotic, bass-driven techno. “The vibe was super nice and after a few tracks, the magic happened,” he explains. Mount Kimbie’s ‘Motor’ Mix. “There be automobiles in this here mix, as well as a selection of beautiful tunes,” say UK post-dubstep originators Mount Kimbie, aka Dominic Maker and Kai Campos, about their 20-minute long ‘Motor’ minimix for BBC6Music, which features new tracks from Tirzah, Actress and themselves. Randall Marsh’s Education in Boogie. To mark Be With Records‘ reissue of Alec Mansion’s highly-sought self-titled 1983 album, a new vinyl-only mix of 80s boogie, electro-funk and early 90s R&B from Mancunian Randall Marsh, who’s known for his Full Beam! social jam nights and his monthly radio show on NTS 2. Nick Höppner’s 2-Step Session. Berliner and Ostgut Ton boss Nick Höppner is known for his residency at Berghain/Panoramabar. In this Back To The Basics show, he puts together some of his favourite 2-step garage tunes from the genre’s late 90s golden era, featuring tracks from Trick Or Treat, Zed Bias and Nordstadt Union. Celebrating the release of his new album Several Shades Of The Same Color on Ghostly sister label Spectral Sound, Brooklyn producer Patricia, whose past records have found homes in Opal Tapes, L.I.E.S., Russian Torrent Versions and Future Times, puts together an elegant selection of dark techno.
