This week’s best mixes include Ron Morelli, low-end legend DJ Clent, forward-leaning 4/4 from Jon Rundell, and the rebirth of Grain.
Brooklyn via Paris. Ron Morelli compiles a 10-track mixtape in promotion of his set at Make Me‘s sixth birthday celebration in East London, which you can stream in full via YouTube above. Interview and tracklisting here.
Low-end legend. From the south side of Chicago and about to a release his first solo EP, the 5-track long ‘Hyper Feet‘ on Planet Mu, DJ Clent mixes an hour of his own productions for Thump, including tons of unreleased material. Read an in-depth interview with Clent and the full tracklisting of the mix, which is available for stream or download below, here.
Forward-leaning 4/4. Recorded in promotion of his night at Fabric with Carl Cox on the 3rd of April, Jon Rundell expresses the strongly groove-driven and sophisticated big room sound of Intec Digital, the label he runs with Cox, in the mix below. Tracklisting here.
The rebirth of Grain. Multi-genre producing Arthur Smith (aka Artwork, one third of Magnetic Man alongside Skream and Benga) records a highly focused mix as his late-90s techno alias Grain, working under the moniker for the first time in 15 years, and gives an interview on his motivations here. Stream or download it below.
The thrill of forward motion. Bristolian rhythm-head Addison Groove, whose music is “all about the sheer thrill of forward motion”, amalgamates from footwork, techno, drum n bass, jungle and ghetto house in order to create a remarkably cohesive hour-long mix for the latest edition of Mixmag‘s ‘In Session‘ series.
