London institutions join forces. Two of London’s most loved dance music institutions celebrate birthdays this month. What better than to team up for the festivities? Phonica’s tenth birthday bash takes place at Fabric tomorrow (Saturday) night with a serious line-up on all fronts. Highlights include A Guy Called Gerald playing live plus DJ sets from Levon Vincent and Heidi in Room 1, and an Anthony Rother live set in Room 2. More info here.
Professional Bowie fanboy remixes Bowie. As if the cover of This Is Happening wasn’t enough of a tribute, James Murphy will remix Bowie’s ‘Love Is Lost’ for the expanded edition of The Next Day, reports The Quietus.
Native Instruments announces new flagship Maschine. The Maschine Studio is now available for pre-order, priced at €999/$999. NI themselves explain the key features best. Check out the video below.
Audio companies join forces for Save The Children charity. In the third annual KVR fund-raiser, 75 software and hardware companies including IK Multimedia, Moog and Camel Audio have donated plugins and gear for charity auction. Last year’s effort raised $15,211. For more info and to find out how to get involved check out the thread at the KVR Audio forum. Donating to a good cause and getting your hands on cheap toys? Sweet deal.
Monome announces Aleph. The customisable hardware company’s new offering is a “powerful audio processor, synthesizer, noise machine and rapidly modifiable instrument”. Obviously it looks cool as fuck, but the whole point is what people do with it – this is a hardware platform designed to encourage experimentation. At $1,400, you’d better hope the results are good.
