Korg UK launches sound design competition based around Monotron and Monotribe synths.
It’s no secret that we love Korg’s Monotrons. Not just because they’re cheap and their filters are virtually indistinguishable from the classic MS-20 low-pass design, but also because of the new wave of Korg analogue they helped usher in. Without the Monotrons we wouldn’t have had the Monotribe, the MS-20 reboot, the Volcas or the newly announced modular synth collab with littleBits.
To celebrate the range, Korg has launched a contest for Monotron and Monotribe owners to contribute sound effects to the soundtrack of a computer game mash-up video (we’re not sure exactly what that means, but if it’s half way as good as Ithaca Audio’s Game Theory video we’ll be happy). The entrant who submits the best sound effects and music will win a limited-edition gold MicroKorg. Sadly it’s only open to UK residents. No word on whether similar competitions are planned for other countries.
Enter at riseofthemonotrons.com (or http://www.korguk.com/riseofthemonotrons/) before December 31st for a chance to win.

Thanks plyphon.
riseofthemonotrons.com is the link Korg gave us. It was working when we published this but it looks like they’re having server issues now. We’ll update to add the alternative link.
