The Drumsheds is set to close its doors this January. Its final show is ‘Not To Be’ by The Hydra on Saturday 29th.
Not To Be by The Hydra was originally meant to be held on December 18th. Instead, it was placed on hold due to Covid-19 relations. DJs such as TSHA, Ben UFO, Joy Orbinson, Violet and more are included in the line-up for the much-anticipated show, which will now be the final farewell to the event space.
The Drumsheds posted a statement on Instagram, below, to share the news. The much-loved club has not divulged precisely the reasons for closing.
Bradwick Venues, the owner of The Drumsheds, Printworks and Exhibition London, first opened the venue for Field Day in June 2019 and it has a maximum 10,000 person capacity. The event space is a few minutes walk from Meridian Water overground station and was part of a £6 billion regeneration plan for the Meridian Water area.
After announcing The Drumsheds is to close, the company released a new statement to reassure their customers they will be reopening in a new venue.
It’s no secret that the nighttime industry has seen a perfect storm over the past few years. Industry revenue is expected to decline at a compound annual rate of 20.1% to £603.7 million by the end of this year. There are various mitigating reasons cited as changes in drinking habits including supermarket discounts on alcohol, rising tuition fees, COVID-19 restrictions, and Brexit. News of The Drumsheds follows the closing of The Cause on New Years Day 2022.
