Australian DJ Willie Pake is carving out a new path in electronic music with a genre he calls YEEDM — a blend of country and dance music that reflects both his roots and a decade-long career behind the decks.
Having spent over ten years on the DJ circuit, Pake’s recent work merges the storytelling of country with the rhythmic intensity of EDM. It’s a combination that’s gaining attention both at home and abroad. His remix of Morgan Wallen’s Smile recently entered the Hypeddit Top 10 Country Charts, while his take on Rodney Atkins’ Caught Up in the Countryreached No. 2 and continues to perform well.
Alongside remixes, Pake is now moving into original collaborations. His latest track with Australian artist Riley Young draws inspiration from Avicii’s early folk-country crossover work — aiming to deliver emotional resonance with high-energy production.
While based in Australia, Pake’s sets have been making their way across international borders. He recently played his first show in New Zealand and regularly tours across Australia, performing at events alongside artists including Shannon Noll, Kasey Chambers, Paul Kelly, The Wolfe Brothers, Casey Barnes, and Taylor Moss.
Pake’s work signals a shift in how electronic music can intersect with traditional genres — and with more releases and shows planned throughout the year, the evolution of YEEDM appears to be a growing subgenera to watch.
