DYNAUDIO LYD 48

Most 3-way monitoring systems—those featuring a subwoofer (low end), tweeter (high end), and mid-range driver—are rather pricey. But the Danish company Dynaudio offers a 3-way monitor, the Lyd 48, that is as attractive for its price as it is for its expansive and detailed frequency response.

Dynaudio unveiled its Lyd series back in 2016 with the Lyd 5, 7 and 8 monitors. With the Lyd 48, Dynaudio offers a 3-way built on the same technology as its 2-way predecessors. The upside is that any worry about crossover problems (when the tweeter can’t really handle any bass frequencies and the subwoofer can’t handle higher frequencies) is essentially moot, as the monitor’s third drive handles the mid-range, giving the frequency range great depth. The frequency response of the Lyd 48 is 32Hz to 21kHz, while its crossover frequencies are set at 490Hz and 5.6kHz.

The great thing is that Dynaudio managed all of this while keeping the Lyd 48’s enclosure compact. For the price and frequency detail, the Lyd 48 might be an ideal choice for electronic musicians ans will appeal to both the novice bedroom producer and the established veteran, like Drum & Bass icon Goldie, who uses these in his studio.
