With Live 12.2 coming soon. We dived into the beta version to show you how the new features could be put to use in a techno track.
Ableton Live 12.2 brings Scale Awareness to more devices including Spectral Resonator. It also adds improved routing and sidechain functions to several devices including Roar.
In our new video, we’ll explore both and see how we can use them to build an entire song from a single sound source. We’ll cover:
- Using Spectral Resonator to create evolving chords from a rim shot 00:39
- Adding a further sound using Spectral Resonator and a whole drum kit 06:46
- Adding a bass with Spectral Resonator 09:15
- Use feedback MIDI input to control notes 10:30
- Applying Roar internal modulation 12:19
- Select external sidechain source for Roar’s Envelope Follower 12:35
- Outro and use cases 14:08
If you’d like to follow along, you too can become a beta tester. Just follow this link on the Ableton site to find out how.
If you’d like to explore other new features in Live 12.2 we covered the main features announced back in March which includes the long requested Bounce to New Track feature. A staple of other DAWs but soon to be available in Live.
